Policy Workshop: Landing the Economic Case for Climate Action with Decision-makers

Despite a clear economic case for climate action, global climate action is still insufficient. BCG, a leading global strategy consulting firm that encourages and supports governments, businesses and investors to accelerate climate action, has been working with the Cambridge climaTRACES Lab on presenting the economic case for climate action to decision-makers based on the growing body of economic research. Edmond Rhys Jones (BCG’s lead for climate policy and diplomacy) and Sahradha Kaemmerer (project lead) will present the main finding from this research (which will be published ahead of New York Climate Week). The presentation will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the most effective policy levers to incorporate tomorrow’s costs into today’s decisions.

Participants include colleagues from the private sector (such as Boston Consulting Group), academics (from universities across the world and across all fields), and intergovernmental organisations (such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund). The event is chaired by Esfandiar Maasoumi (Emory University).

The workshop is held at the Keynes Lecture Theatre at King’s College, Cambridge and will be followed by drinks and networking in the Chetwynd Room at King’s College. If you want to attend please RVSP to Kamiar Mohaddes.

This event will be followed by the Eighth Conference on the Econometric Models of Climate Change (EMCC VIII) which will take place at King’s College, University of Cambridge on 16-17 August, 2024, and is organised by Cambridge climaTRACES Lab in collaboration with the Janeway Institute, the King’s Entrepreneurship Lab, and the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance (CERF) at the Cambridge Judge Business School. The programme for the conference is available here.
