Green Transformations: Climate Risk and Industrial Policy
This special edition of our workshop series brings together researchers working at the interface of climate risk and industrial decarbonisation, with dynamic presentations spanning emissions reduction in heavy industry, corporate exposure to extreme weather, nuclear decommissioning, and flood risks in supply chains.

Speakers:
Lukas Gast – Decarbonization in Hard-to-Abate Sectors: Lukas is a Lecturer in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure at UCL and teaches energy systems at TU Berlin. His research focuses on reducing emissions in the production and use of construction materials (e.g., steel and cement), circular economy, and sustainable infrastructure.
Henning Zschietzschmann – Extreme Weather and Corporate Performance: Henning is a PhD candidate in Economics at Cambridge. His research covers environmental macroeconomics, climate risk, and policy responses. He has worked as a sustainability consultant for hard-to-abate sectors.
Alexander Wimmers – Decommissioning Nuclear Power Plants: Alex is a lecturer at TU Berlin and guest researcher at DIW Berlin, specializing in the political economy of nuclear energy and infrastructure transitions. He previously worked as a consultant in renewable energy.
Amirhassan Keshavarzzadeh – Flood Risk in Global Supply Chains: Amir is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, working on data-driven methods to assess environmental risk exposure in supply chains. He holds engineering degrees from Cambridge and ETH Zürich.
The presentations will be followed by an internal workshop from 16:00 to 17:00, focused on translating research into policy and action. If you would like to take part in the workshop, please contact Niels Kunz (ndk34@cam.ac.uk).

This special edition of our climaTRACES workshop series is in collaboration with TU Berlin and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), and is part of an academic visit to Cambridge led by Christian von Hirschhausen.
The weekly climaTRACES workshops, organised by Kamiar Mohaddes and Henning Zschietzschmann, are attended by a diverse group of people from economics, geography, politics, engineering, business, earth sciences, natural sciences, and history, generating interdisciplinary discussion. One person leads the session, on either a paper they have written, a work in progress, or just an idea they have and would like feedback on. This is also an opportunity for people to find our more about the team on what climaTRACES have been up to and what future events and research projects are being developed.
